Plants Vs Zombies 2: Garden Warfare

Not to be confused with Plants Vs Zombies 2: it’s about time, which is a direct sequel built in the image of the original. Garden warfare has taken the franchise into the realm of a comical shooter, and it looks brilliant. I cant say I’m altogether happy that EA bought bottlecap and the PvZ franchise, and I’m not thrilled that the direct sequel, It’s about time, has whent to the freemium model. Garden warfare though, looks much different, almost like Team Fortress 2, but much more comical.
There are four playable plants in the solo/co-op campaign, all meant to play a specific role in the group. The pea shooter is similar to a soldier role, Sunflower the medic, (played by a girl in the video how stereotypical lol), the cactus is the sniper role and chomper the melee class. Looks like the game can be played solo, but seems to shine in co-op where you have access to a wider range of classes and special abilities.
I’m also glad to see the humor seems to be in tact in this game, one of the things I loved the most from the original. The disco boss looks delightfully amusing and gargantuan appropriately intimidating. The nice thing about this model of game is their opportunity to build a lot heavier on the story, which wasn’t a strong point in the first game.
All in all the game looks amazing, They haven’t spoken much about any kind of competitive multiplayer, but I would love to see some tdm with one side as plants the others zombies. I hate to say it but I think this game has even more potential than the direct sequel, although I’m sure I’ll get both. The Console Wars, Friend or Foe?

   As maybe a few of you might have heard, we are on the brink of the release of two next generation gaming consoles. So far the competition between the two has been intense, back and forth, both company’s trying to degrade each other and give themselves a foot up. Sony appeared to be off to a quick win, publicly denouncing Drm and a good many things at E3 that people were not happy with about with the new Xbox. Microsoft, though, has proven they wont go down so easily, and has started to bring the playing field to a more even level. They showed us a great lineup of exclusive titles, lots of cool media features as well as free games for gold users.
Why is this kind of grueling death match so good for gamers?
There is value in competition, one company having monopoly over anything is bad news for its consumers. Let’s face it, the world runs on money, without it there would probably not even be a console war, consoles were made to make money, bottom line. Competition forces these company’s to push the barriers and give us, better tech, better service, games, controllers, prices and just an all around better experience. This is how they make their money, and why our little electronic toys get a little better with every passing year. Without competition, we would have things like drm and whatever other horrors company’s could push on us, all to suck up our hard earned dollars. It’s the same with almost every aspect in our lives, Competition is what makes athletes push so hard to be great, keeps prices reasonable, causes restaurants to actually care about the quality of the food they serve us, it’s all about beating the competition, without it you just have junk.
So what is bad about the console wars?
Unfortunately, competitions of this caliber spawn fanboys/girls, pits gamer versus gamer. This generation especially, has spawned trolls like I’ve never seen before, they are covering the social media rousing hate and anger against their rival systems. Insulting each other, putting each other down and arguing until the cows come home, all this needs to stop. We as gamers need to stop and think about a world where only one console rules. It’s not pretty guys. There are enough of us to support two consoles, I wish people could see this and stop fighting amongst ourselves.

Matt, The Comic Book

Sit down and stay a while, I have a story to tell! (It’s totally 100 percent true to)

Once upon a time there was a guy named Matt, he was extremely unpopular and for no good reasons either. I mean come on, look at that face. Anyways, only his mother loved him, but Matt had an idea, and it was a good one to.

He would take tons of pictures of himself. wearing only his trusty CoD helmet and a sexy face, he would then post these pictures all over the interwebs. This plan of course had an expected fail rate of 0, if you were wondering.

At just that moment a stupid, hairy and drunk gorilla bumb attacked him, right out of plain site. Wielding only a half empty can of beer and an uncooked potato, the gorilla bumb beats our hero half to death.

This of course, as anyone that knows Matt Knows, Pissed him off super bad. Smoke started billowing out of his ears and he roared like an angry bull. He would hunt this Bumbheamoth down and slay his beer drinking ass!

Unfortunately all this action had made Matt extremely tired, so he decided to take a nap first. Maybe he would kick some ass tomorrow, ya that sounded good.

This is Sparta! or Rome whatever…..

I’ll be honest, I went into E3 irate at Microsoft, not unlike a large portion of the gaming community I’m sure. Raging on forums, tossing insults, making jokes at their behalf, basically trying my best to fart in their cereal. I was positive I was getting a Ps4, to hell with my loyaltys.

Then Microsoft did the first good thing they have done since the reveal of the One, and while it wasn’t a game changer, it was a start. They brought the games, the game lineup for Microsoft was so much stronger than Sony. Most of the games that interested me in the Ps4’s lineup were coming to both consoles, mainly kingdom hearts 3 and ff 15. Microsoft though showed me Forza 5, Dead Rising 3, Titanfall, and of course the game I want to talk about today, Ryse. I was mad at myself for admitting it, but these games looked great.

Anyways Ryse, 300 the freaking game. Yes it looks slightly quicktime event driven, but from the video those look more like combo finishers and counters. The graphics look beyond amazing, and while this does look strangely like the beach scene from Saving Private Ryan, It’s intense and story driven. I just hope that you don’t get cornholled into following only a certain path (being on rails).

The Combat looks simply amazing, the quik time fighting reminds me so much of 300, one of my all time favorite movies. To break up the monotony it looks like they have you working from a phalanx, sieging the wall, and calling in archers for help. Commands can be given to your troops using your Kinect to further immerse you in the game. Smartglass can be used to check achieves and give you in game tips and tricks/ walkthroughs, will have to see if this feature is useful or not once the game releases.

All in all, this game alone wont sell the system to me. If Microsoft plays their cards right, changes their mistakes and give me more games like these. Well than I may just give them another chance.

Relay for Life

Spent my afternoon at the Relay for Life today and I just wanted to give a shoutout to anyone that is fighting or has fought cancer. Keep fighting! Remember your friends and loved ones, also remember that cancer can be beaten, be strong and know that we are here for you. Also would like to give honorable mentions to the family’s of those with cancer, it’s a difficult and stress ridden road, I know from personal experience, hang in there guys.

The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug

 

That my lad, was a dragon…… So today, on the final day of my week long vacation, I decided not to do meaningless things like cleaning, bills or laundry. Instead I layed on my couch, being as lazy as possible, munching cheetos out of my fat rolls and watched The Hobbit for the 4th time since it hit theaters. I’ve heard mixed reviews on this film, but myself being a huge fan of the trilogy and the books, I enjoy it.

If you haven’t already noticed the big ass embedded youtube video up top, you should probably watch that before you read what I have to say in the rest of this post, it’s the official trailer for the second movie the Desolation of Smaug. As with every time I sit down and watch a great movie, the first thing I do afterwords is hop online and see what I can find out about sequels, read reviews and browse forums to find out other peoples thoughts. I guess I’m a bit of a forums whore.

First off I have to admit my unrelenting love for Liv Tyler, shes the best man… so hot. Glad to see her getting a part, and an action roll at that. Legolas looks to be his normal bad ass self, although from what I can remember he wasn’t in the hobbit, none the less it would be cool to see if they build on the relationship of him and his father( the guy with the crown of branches). The scenery looks amazing, as in any Lord of the Rings film, doing plenty of justice to the series and its specific art style. Bringing the right amount of eerie majestic to the dwarven halls, and beauty to the elves and the murkwood. Thought that Smaug looked excellent for the brief moment we get to see him, wonder how brown bilbo’s britches were after that scene.

Altogether it looks like quite a few scenes were either added, or stretched out to make the film run a full 2 1/2 – 3 hours, but as long as its done well that’s fine with me. I’ll definitely be keeping my eyes open for more trailers and keep you guys updated, maybe next time they will show more Smaug.

oh ya almost forgot if you don’t already know the release date is 12-13-13 😛

It’s a me a Mattio!

Hey guys just wanted to welcome you all to my little slice of heaven! As you can see from the above picture, I’m special, like the give me all your candy special lol.  Anywho, wanted to introduce myself since I’m the new guy here. Names Matt, I love writing and expressing myself to anyone or anything, sometimes in awkward ways, but it’s ok I wear awkward well lol.  You can call me forgoten, most of my online friends do, not that I’m normally forgotten as I’m the loudest fattest guy in the room…..  My passion is for gaming, with a side of MgT, anime and pretty much just about anything any well to do nerd would be interested in. I also love melons, long walks on the beach and wearing bunny ears in public. Dislikes, uncooked potatoes, just don’t go there ok lol. Anyways I’ll be posting here daily my opinions on current events in the nerdverse as well as talking about some of my favorites from the past.
